President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law on ratification of the agreement on cooperation of CIS countries for copyright and related rights protection in information and telecommunication networks. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the leader of Kazakhstan.
The agreement is designed to create mechanisms to counteract violations of copyrights and related rights in information and telecommunication networks, including the Internet. The purpose of the document is to further deepen cooperation in this area by improving legislation, development of measures to prevent and suppress violations, exchange of information, research results, seminars and conferences among authorized bodies of the CIS countries.
The agreement will establish common approaches to solving problems that arise in the field of protection and defense of intellectual property rights in the digital environment. The coordination of the interaction between the parties to the agreement is entrusted to the Interstate Council for Legal Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property in the CIS. The parties will cooperate through their authorized bodies.
Earlier Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan Azamat Yeskaraev said that in 2020 in the country revealed and blocked 24 foreign Internet resources that distributed unlicensed software. In 2021 revealed 40 such Internet resources. Information about them entered into the information system "Cybernadzor" to consider the issue of blocking access.
