Muslim countries are actively demonstrating economic interest in cooperation with Russia, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin told journalists at the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic world: KazanForum 2023".
"I see great economic interest [on the part of Muslim countries], primarily in terms of building logistics. Today, everyone is interested in the North-South corridor: the Emirates, Bahrain, the Persian Gulf countries, all of Central Asia - everyone is interested in it. Very interested in promoting our Russian halal products, this is the export of our agricultural products. They are interested in providing services and buying goods, so basically I see a very big interest," he said.
The countries of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia are promising markets for Russia, especially for agricultural products, emphasized Khusnullin. Also, cooperation with the countries of the region provides an opportunity to purchase technologies and partially - agricultural products. In addition, there are prospects for Russia's development in oil and gas in these regions.
Khusnullin noted the necessity of further development of logistic directions to the south. Among the southern directions there is a possibility of developing a route across the Caspian Sea and bypassing it from the west and east in both maritime transport and railways, he said.
"All Central Asian delegations have agreed with us on this. We have signed agreements with some of them, we agreed to meet with them in the near future to work out these mechanisms of interconnection of all roads," the deputy prime minister added.
The XIV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic world: KazanForum 2023" will take place on May 18-20 in Kazan Expo. Khusnullin underlined that more than 15,5 thousand people from 85 countries and 84 regions of the Russian Federation are taking part in the forum.
