Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conveyed his gratitude to Russian leader Vladimir Putin for the assistance provided in combating the devastating forest fires that swept across the Republic of Turkey, the Kremlin's press service reported.
The forest fires had been spreading in various provinces of Turkey, including popular resort areas like Antalya and Mugla, since early July. In response to the crisis, Russia sent two Be-200ChS amphibian airplanes to assist in firefighting efforts. President Putin ordered the planes to be deployed to aid Turkey in combatting the disaster.
