The choice of Kazan to host the BRICS summit scheduled for October this year is not by chance, according to Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, who spoke to TASS. Ushakov highlighted that Kazan possesses all the necessary infrastructure and facilities to organize a meeting of world leaders at a high standard.
"Kazan was not chosen as the venue for the summit by chance. The city has everything necessary to organize a meeting of world leaders at a high level," Ushakov emphasized. He pointed out that Kazan boasts a developed transportation network, tourist infrastructure, and a comfortable modern urban environment. Furthermore, he noted the successful hosting of various international forums by the leadership of the Republic of Tatarstan, which has been a key factor in the decision.
Ushakov also mentioned that members of the organizing committee for Russia's chairmanship in the BRICS association frequently visit Kazan to oversee the preparations for the summit and the meetings of numerous BRICS country delegations in real time. He assured that the organizing committee maintains close ties with the leadership of Tatarstan and those responsible for the practical tasks facing the city in the lead-up to the event.
The presidency in the BRICS association passed to Russia from January 1, 2024, and will last until the end of the year, encompassing over 200 events covering a wide range of topics. The main event of the presidency will be the summit of the BRICS heads of state in October 2024 in Kazan.
