Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan signed a declaration on a comprehensive strategic partnership in Bishkek on Friday. This happened during the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Kyrgyz capital, where he held talks with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov.
Following the talks between the two presidents, 25 documents were signed, including on completing the delimitation of the common border section and an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in preventing and eliminating emergency situations.
The parties also signed an intergovernmental agreement "on cooperation to organize the production of automotive and commercial vehicles in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan." The document provides for the joint construction of a plant in Kyrgyzstan for cars and trucks. According to preliminary data, the plant will produce about 3,000 vehicles annually.
In addition, the sides signed an intergovernmental program of strategic trade and economic partnership for 2023-2025 and agreement on cooperation between ministries of energy of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in energy sphere.
The president of Uzbekistan arrived in Bishkek on a two-day state visit on January 26.
