Kyrgyzstan is preparing to vaccinate its population with Russian preparations, the president of the republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, told RIA Novosti.
"Cooperation in the preparation and deployment of vaccination of the population against coronavirus infection in Kyrgyzstan using Russian-made vaccines is actively developing," he said.
According to the head of state, as of today, Russian vaccines are included by the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan in a special list of medicines allowed to be imported without registration. As the Ministry of Health previously clarified, the Russian vaccine Sputnik V has been officially registered in the country.
"The algorithm of distribution of incoming vaccines at this stage has been prepared, warehouses are ready to accept the vaccine. Preparatory work has begun to train medical workers on storage, handling and use of COVID-19 vaccines," the Kyrgyz leader emphasized.
As Zhaparov specified, vaccination in Kyrgyzstan will take place in three stages. First of all, vaccination will be given to medical workers and personnel of health care organizations, and also to the employees of services that are in the zone of high risk due to the nature of their work and providing life support services. As vaccines become available, citizens who are at high risk of developing severe forms of the disease, socially vulnerable populations and those who wish to vaccinate voluntarily will be vaccinated.
"We are a small country, and disease can cause us great harm. Therefore, vaccination is important for us both in terms of saving the lives of our compatriots and bringing life in the country back to normal as soon as possible without any restrictions," the president said.
