Kyrgyzstan is ready to support neighboring Kazakhstan within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). This was announced Thursday in Bishkek at an extraordinary meeting of the government by its head Akylbek Zhaparov.

" The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov said that in accordance with the decision of the head of state and the Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Kyrgyz Republic confirms its readiness to fully support brotherly Kazakhstan and fulfill its allied obligations within the CSTO to the extent necessary in connection with the appeal of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev," the government press service said in a statement.

According to the press service, it was decided to initiate an emergency session of Parliament on Thursday afternoon as part of instruction from President Sadyr Zhaparov. According to the legislation, the decision to send soldiers out of the country is made by the legislative body.

"Kamchybek Tashiyev, deputy chairman of the cabinet, was appointed to be the rapporteur at the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) meeting. He is also entrusted with the operational leadership of the government headquarters to respond to developments in the Republic of Kazakhstan," the press service specified.

The meeting also considered the current socio-political situation in Kyrgyzstan "in connection with the escalation of tensions and the introduction of a state of emergency throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan". The head of the Cabinet received reports from the heads of security agencies on the situation on the border with Kazakhstan and possible threats due to the movement of criminal elements and weapons.

"Also, instructions were given to the ministries of the financial and economic block to take the necessary measures to ensure the smooth functioning of the banking system, as well as food and fuel security of the republic," stressed in the message.
