Kyrgyzstan to build a plant to produce Russian vaccine against COVID-19

30 December 2020

Kyrgyzstan will build a plant to produce the Russian coronavirus vaccine, Republic's Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliyev said Wednesday on Radio Sputnik.

"In order to provide the entire population, the Health Ministry has decided to build a plant for bottling the vaccine," the Minister said.

According to Beishenaliyev, at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Murashko, he agreed to supply Kyrgyzstan with substrates for vaccine production.

"This will make the vaccine very cheaper. The substrate is very cheap, and the final price goes up because of the bottling, packaging, and delivery,"  the head of the Ministry of Health explained.

The first cases of coronavirus were identified in Kyrgyzstan in early March. The total number of detected cases of COVID-19 in the republic exceeded 80 thousand. 1,354 people died.
