Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu. The main topic of discussion was the situation with the coronavirus and prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the fight against the infection.
"The parties had an in-depth discussion on the coronavirus pandemic, the measures being taken by the two states to prevent the spread of the infection and the prospects for cooperation in this area. The ministers particularly noted the two countries’ well-coordinated efforts to return Russian and Turkish nationals to their respective home countries. Sergey Lavrov and Mevlut Cavusoglu also exchanged views on the progress towards a peaceful settlement in Syria and developments in the Idlib de-escalation zone in the context of implementing the Additional Protocol to the Sochi Memorandum of September 17, 2018, that was adopted on March 5, 2020," the message reads.
In addition, the heads of diplomacy touched upon " topical issues of bilateral Russian-Turkish relations, as well as interaction within international organizations."
