Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke via telephone with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The call was initiated by the US side. The main topic of discussion was the situation in Syria.
"The discussion focused on the situation in Syria. The Russian side emphasised the need for abstaining from steps which would undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of that country," the message reads.
In addition, Lavrov and Pompeo touched upon "some aspects of bilateral relations".
