Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov participated in a videoconference meeting with the BRICS foreign ministers (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) on Thursday. The meeting focused on issues of strategic partnership and preparations for the upcoming BRICS summit in South Africa. The Russian diplomatic department shared this information in a statement released on Friday.
"During the videoconference, the foreign ministers engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views concerning the development and strengthening of the strategic partnership among the five BRICS nations. They also discussed plans for the association's institutional development, as well as addressed relevant matters related to the organization and preparations for the fifteenth BRICS summit, which is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg from August 22 to 24," the statement reads.
