Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke by phone with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif.
According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed prospects of trade and economic cooperation and other issues on the bilateral agenda.
They also had an in-depth discussion on current international issues, including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran’s nuclear programme and a Syrian settlement in the context of the agreements reached by the guarantor countries of the Astana format.
The Russian foreign minister expressed condolences on the new coronavirus COVID-19 deaths in Iran and confirmed readiness to help stop the spread of the infection.
