Russia and the US cannot maintain normal communication because of the confrontational course of US leader Joe Biden's administration. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told TASS in an interview.
"It is objectively impossible to maintain normal communication with the Biden administration, which declares as a goal to inflict a strategic defeat on our country," he said. According to Lavrov, Washington's "confrontational anti-Russian course is becoming increasingly acute and comprehensive."
The minister acknowledged that "Russian-American relations are indeed in an extremely deplorable state, practically frozen through Washington's fault."
"We consistently explain to Americans that deliberately worsening interstate relations is not our style," Lavrov pointed out.
"However, when building a dialogue in any circumstances, we proceed from the principle of reciprocity. That is, as a rule, we act according to the principle of "an eye for an eye," but not necessarily symmetrically," concluded the head of the Russian foreign ministry.
