Russia hopes that the first Caspian Economic forum, which will be held on August 12 in Turkmenistan, will give an additional impetus to cooperation in a number of areas,

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the journal “Foreign policy and diplomacy of Turkmenistan”.

"It's good news that the agenda of the Forum includes a wide range of issues on deepening trade and economic relations, improving the investment climate, expanding practical cooperation in the field of industry, transport, innovation, and science. I am convinced that the first Caspian Economic Forum will give an additional impetus to cooperation in such areas as trade, investment, and tourism. It will contribute to the transformation of the Caspian sea into one of the world's largest transport and transit hubs," Lavrov said.

The Minister also emphasized that in the current circumstances, there is an objectively riped need to create a specialized platform for direct contacts between governments, relevant economic agencies and business structures interested in working in the Caspian sea.
