Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov awarded former Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riyad Haddad the Order of Friendship, thanking him for his work in this position, the russian foreign Ministry said in a statement following the meeting on Friday.
"Sergey Lavrov thanked Riyad Haddad for his work in Moscow as the head of the Syrian diplomatic mission from 2011 to 2022 and wished him further success, expressing the hope that he will continue to promote the development of multifaceted cooperation between Russia and Syria," noted the ministry.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier signed a decree awarding Haddad the Order of Friendship. The former Syrian ambassador was awarded "for his great contribution to strengthening Russian-Syrian relations."
