Russia plans to discuss with Turkey the topic of dragging Ukraine into NATO in the near future during regular contacts, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference on Monday.
"We have very clearly, unambiguously outlined our position on attempts to drag Ukraine into NATO. I have no doubt that serious, responsible states understand very well what this is all about. We are in regular dialogue with our Turkish colleagues, and we are planning another contact in the near future. I think we will certainly talk about this topic too," he said.
The press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on June 19 that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed the expansion of cooperation between the Ukrainian and Turkish navies, which "will help to implement NATO standards in the Ukrainian Navy, improve their defense capabilities and compatibility with NATO member states."
