Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are linked by longstanding friendship and joint efforts to maintain international security, as well as by successful interaction in various formats. This is stated in the greeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to the participants of the XII International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021".
"Russia's relations with members of the OIC are based on traditions of long-standing friendship and partnership, inter-religious and inter-civilization dialogue, joint efforts to maintain regional and international security with an unwavering commitment to the goals and principles of the UN Charter," the minister said in a greeting posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry website on Thursday. - "Therefore, it is natural that we closely and successfully cooperate in a variety of formats. Your meeting should also contribute to building cooperative ties".
Lavrov noted that the summit is an important platform for practical cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world. "Every year it is attended by hundreds of representatives of official, business, scientific and expert circles from more than 70 states. It is gratifying that Russian regions are actively involved in the work of the conference," the minister added.
"I am convinced that the summit will be held in a businesslike manner, and the implementation of its rich program will allow the participants to strengthen the potential for cooperation, establish useful contacts and come up with new joint initiatives," Lavrov stressed.
The XII International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021" is taking place in Kazan on July 28-30. Representatives of 48 countries and 25 regions of Russia participate in the summit. The summit aims to develop cooperation and maintain a dialogue between Russia and the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the economic, political and cultural spheres.
