03 March 2022

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev will hold talks in Moscow on March 5, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

"Negotiations between the foreign ministers of Russia and Kyrgyzstan are scheduled for March 5 in Moscow as part of the official visit of this country's foreign minister to the Russian Federation," the diplomat said.

Zakharova pointed out that this meeting launches a series of events scheduled for this year, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Russian-Kyrgyz diplomatic relations established on March 20, 1992.

The diplomat said that during the talks the ministers will discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.

"An exchange of views on Eurasian integration, global and regional security, including in connection with the events in Ukraine, and interaction on international platforms are also expected. There are plans to sign a program of cooperation between the foreign ministries of our countries for the period from 2022 to 2024 and adopt a joint statement of the two countries' ministers following the official visit of the Kyrgyz foreign minister to the Russian Federation," she added.

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries will contribute to further strengthening of the bilateral strategic partnership and alliance.
