Lebanon Denounces Israeli Violations of Its Sovereignty

03 July

Lebanon remains committed to international law and demands a ceasefire along its southern border in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Prime Minister Najib Mikati emphasized this stance during the opening of a conference in Beirut focused on peace and security issues in the Middle East.

"Lebanon does not accept Israeli violations of its sovereignty, national dignity, and territorial integrity," - Mikati stated. - "Our choice remains peace, justice, and adherence to international law."

Mikati argued that "Israel's attacks on Southern Lebanon, deliberate killings of its residents, destruction of cities, and burning of crops constitute terrorist aggression in every sense." He called on the international community to end a "criminal Israeli policy," urging measures to restrain the aggressor and restore calm along the southern border.

The prime minister provided data indicating that 75% of the population in the southern region have lost their livelihoods due to military actions, and 100,000 people have become displaced. Since the start of the military escalation in October 2023, Israeli air raids and artillery bombardments have resulted in 97 deaths and 1,200 injuries in southern Lebanon.
