The Lebanese government deeply values its friendly relations with Russia and is grateful for the timely humanitarian assistance provided by the Russian Federation to citizens affected by Israeli aggression. This was stated by Nasser Yassin, coordinator of the Rapid Response Center for Emergency Situations and acting Minister of Environment of Lebanon, in an interview with TASS.
Yassin, along with the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, attended the ceremony of receiving humanitarian aid delivered by a Russian Emergencies Ministry Il-76 aircraft to Beirut.
"We received crucial humanitarian assistance from Russia and thank its people and government for this friendly support," said Yassin. "Lebanese citizens are in dire need of aid, especially since nearly a quarter of the country's population—1.5 million people—have been displaced due to Israeli bombings."
Yassin emphasized that the food, supplies, and electric generators provided by Russia will help those in difficult situations, and some refugee families might even be able to return to their homes.
Earlier, the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered 33 tons of humanitarian aid to Beirut, including food, medicine, essential items, and 80 kW generators.
