Malaysian Official Delegation to Participate in Eastern Economic Forum, Says Ambassador to Russia

A Malaysian government delegation will participate in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), scheduled to take place in Vladivostok from September 3-6. This announcement was made by Malaysian Ambassador to Moscow, Cheong Lun Lai, during a meeting with Russian Presidential Advisor Anton Kobyakov, according to a statement from Roscongress, as reported by TASS.

 

"An official delegation from Malaysia will take part in the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. This visit marks the deepening of relations between Malaysia and Russia," the Malaysian diplomat stated.

 

During the meeting, Roscongress reported that both parties explored the possibility of entrepreneurs from Malaysia and Russia participating in joint business dialogues during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and the Eastern Economic Forum. They also discussed the potential for organizing a Malaysian stand at SPIEF.

 

The meeting participants also evaluated prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in light of the upcoming Russian Energy Week, set for September 26-28. The discussion included consideration of Russian competencies in nuclear technologies.

 

 

Development Across All Areas

 

Kobyakov highlighted the strong partnership between Russia and Malaysia, which continues to grow across various sectors, including the economy, finance, and energy. "In addition, there is great potential for interaction in the chemical industry, information technology, digitalization, and agriculture. I am confident that mutual participation in business events in both countries will provide an additional impetus to achieving practical results aimed at the comprehensive development of Russian-Malaysian relations," Kobyakov was quoted as saying.

 

Additionally, Kobyakov and the Malaysian ambassador discussed the international business forum "World of Opportunities: Russia - ASEAN," scheduled to be held in Malaysia on November 26-27. The significance of this event was noted, particularly in light of Malaysia's upcoming chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025.

 

The meeting also underscored the importance of cooperation in science and tourism, particularly within the framework of the IV Congress of Young Scientists and the Russian Tourism Forum "Travel!".
