Indonesian President Joko Widodo, at a meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin, intends to discuss the problem of Ukrainian grain exports, as well as the upcoming G20 summit. The Jakarta Post reported this on Monday, citing sources in the government.
Key details of the upcoming European tour, during which Widodo will also visit Germany, are expected to be announced after a closed cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday. The sources do not rule out that the head of the state will go to Kiev from Moscow. The publication points out that Widodo is going to Russia, among other things, at the request of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
According to the article, the Indonesian leader has a good chance to negotiate in Moscow because Jakarta, although it condemned the special operation in Ukraine, opposed the imposition of sanctions on Russia. Moreover, according to The Jakarta Post, "the two leaders have personal good relations. Widodo intends to invite Putin again to the G20 summit in Bali in November". "Even if the Russian president is unable to attend, Widodo will try to arrange for Putin's state visit to Indonesia before or after the summit," the newspaper notes.
Earlier, Kremlin sources said that the meeting between the two leaders is scheduled for June 30.
