Russia and Kazakhstan have created an effective model of mutually beneficial and equal cooperation, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said on Monday during a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
"You have always been a firm follower of building Russian-Kazakh relations because it was both strategically and geopolitically in the national interests of Kazakhstan, the interests of the people of Kazakhstan, and Russia, just like you, got into this formation. I know about your relations with Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], thanks to your efforts we have passed an effective way of building interstate relations and created perhaps the most effective model of mutually beneficial, equal, mutually respectful, independent cooperation," Matvienko told Tokayev.
She called politicians trying to bring discord into relations between the two countries not very distant and recalled that Russia was the first to recognize Kazakhstan's independence. "It was very symbolic. Thanks to your wisdom and the wisdom of our president, in all major treaties with international status, the red thread laid down that we mutually respect the territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence of states and non-interference in the internal affairs of states," said the speaker of the Federation Council.
According to her, today nothing prevents the two countries from building a relationship of trust. "We have signed all the agreements on the border, long enough. We have no disagreements about a single square meter. Everything has been agreed in the spirit of cooperation, in the spirit of our strategic partnership," Matvienko stressed.
After the meeting, she told reporters that the president deemed it possible to receive all members of the Federation Council delegation as an exception, "which was a special sign of respect for Russia." "There was a very detailed conversation with the president of Kazakhstan. He praised the level of development of Russian-Kazakh relations. He said that now there is a different level of relations in terms of the scale of the implementation of joint projects. Emphasis was made on the areas of high technology, innovation, digitalization, artificial intelligence - these are areas in which we can now effectively cooperate," said the chairman of the upper house of the Russian parliament.
In addition, according to her, Tokayev said that investments of Russian companies are the most attractive and understandable for Kazakhstan. "For Russia, too, this cooperation with Kazakhstan is of mutual interest," concluded Matvienko.
