Russia and Algeria will soon sign a renewed declaration on an advanced strategic partnership, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko told reporters on Thursday.
"Algeria was the first country on the African continent and in the Arab world with which Russia signed a declaration on strategic partnership in 2001.
Now both sides are working on updating this important document. I think that in the near future we will sign a new updated declaration, which will be called "On Advanced Strategic Partnership", said Matviyenko following her meeting with Chairman of the Council of the Nation (the upper house of Algerian parliament) Salah Goudjil.
According to the FC speaker, the document will be ready "in the shortest possible time".
