Media: Iran speeds up installation of new generation centrifuges for uranium enrichment

09 June 2022

Iran has accelerated the production and installation of new generation centrifuges for uranium enrichment. This was reported by the ISNA news agency on Thursday, citing a source.

The installation of advanced centrifuges and disabling International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) surveillance cameras at nuclear facilities are among the measures that Iran is taking in response to the IAEA resolution on Tehran, ISNA noted.

A day earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh wrote on Twitter that the Iranian side will take decisive and proportionate actions in response to the IAEA resolution.

According to the diplomat, the US, as well as Britain, Germany and France "put their short-sighted plans above the authority of the IAEA and promoted an erroneous and reckless resolution against the country with the most transparent and peaceful nuclear program in the world."

Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna, said on Wednesday that a majority of the 35 member states of the IAEA Board of Governors voted in favor of the resolution on Iran, which criticizes it for not clarifying the origin of uranium particles at three undeclared facilities. China and Russia voted against the document.
