14 December 2020

There were no provocative actions against the participants of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper reports.

"No provocative actions were recorded against members of the Russian contingent of peacekeeping forces," the article says.

Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, the commander of the Russian military contingent in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said at a briefing earlier that Russian peacekeepers had prevented the violation of the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh on Friday and the situation in the region had normalized.

Russian peacekeepers are constantly monitoring the situation and maintaining interaction with representatives of the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides, Muradov added.

On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported for the first time a cease-fire violation in Nagorno-Karabakh. Earlier on Saturday, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that the Azerbaijani army launched December 12 offensives in the direction of the villages of Hin Taglar and Htsaberd in southern Karabakh. According to the Russian Defense Ministry bulletin published Sunday, the cease-fire regime is again observed in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Provided with everything they need

Deputy Defense Minister, Army General Dmitry Bulgakov said in an interview with the publication that Russian peacekeepers who are in Nagorno-Karabakh are provided with everything they need.

"The Russian grouping is provided with everything necessary for the successful fulfillment of the task set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation [Vladimir Putin]," Bulgakov said.

According to the Deputy Minister, food, fuel and lubricants are supplied by local suppliers, while other cargoes are delivered from Russia by military transport aircraft via Armenia and by railway via Azerbaijan. "In addition, air transportation using the Ganja international airport has been coordinated with the Azerbaijani side," the army general noted.

In order to provide conditions for the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno Karabakh, 31 block-modular settlements of various capacities will be installed. They will include residential modules, a bathhouse, a medical station, a drying room, a headquarters, a food warehouse and more. "And to make our peacekeepers feel an invisible connection with their homeland, our chefs will cook them the best dishes of traditional Russian cuisine and other peoples of Russia," Bulgakov added.

Military transport aviation

Bulgakov said military transport aviation had made more than 250 flights to transport peacekeepers and equipment.

"The transfer of peacekeeping forces was carried out by military transport aviation in the shortest possible time. More than 250 flights were performed," he said.

According to the deputy minister, almost 2,000 servicemen and over 530 vehicles were transported.
