Media Report: Israel Detains 3,390 Palestinians in West Bank Since October 7

01 December 2023

Israeli security forces have detained 3,390 Palestinians in the West Bank since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This information comes from a statement released by Palestinian human rights organizations, as reported by Al Jazeera.

Human rights organizations report that 40 Palestinians were detained in the West Bank on Wednesday and Thursday alone. They highlight concerns about the "widespread use of torture and brutal beatings," along with acts of vandalism and the destruction of Palestinian homes.

The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated after Hamas fighters from the Gaza Strip infiltrated into Israeli territory on October 7. Hamas called the attack a response to Israeli authorities' actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel announced a complete blockade of Gaza and began strikes on the Strip and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
