At least 19 people have been killed in the collapse of a marble mine in North-West Pakistan, with several workers still trapped in the rubble, Geo.tv reports with reference to the police.
According to it, the incident occurred on Monday in the Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Initially, 12 people were reported dead and six injured, whose condition is described as serious. Rescuers then found seven more bodies.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of the local police, the number of victims of the collapse may increase. Before the tragedy, 40-50 people were at the mines. According to the Dawn newspaper, at least five more people may remain under the rubble, and special equipment and additional rescue teams are involved in the operation.
