Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Antonij of Volokolamsk will lead the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) at the upcoming Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan's capital. This was reported by the press service of the embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia.
According to its data, Ambassador Yermek Kosherbayev held a meeting in Moscow with Metropolitan Anthonij, during which the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan were discussed. "Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the upcoming VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Nur-Sultan on September 14-15, 2022. Metropolitan Anthonij confirmed his participation in the forum - he will lead the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church," the report said.
Metropolitan also expressed confidence that the congress will make a significant contribution to strengthening peace, concord and interreligious dialogue not only in Kazakhstan, but also will give an important message to the whole mankind.
In turn, Kosherbayev noted that the republic highly appreciated the current high level of relations with ROC, which plays a major role in strengthening peace, harmony and inter-confessional harmony in Kazakh society, moral and ethical education of the younger generation and friendly relations between the countries.
"The parties stressed their intention for further constructive cooperation in maintaining and affirming the principles of interreligious dialogue, good neighborliness and mutual respect. The importance of interaction between local authorities and dioceses for spiritual development of the society for the purpose of preservation of traditional moral values and strengthening of interconfessional accord was noted," the press service of the embassy told.
The VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions will be held in Nur-Sultan on September 14-15. About 100 delegations from 60 countries are expected to participate.
