The main focus on the upcoming inter-Syrian talks in the Astana format on August 1-2 will be on the promotion of the political process, including the establishment of the Constitutional Committee, the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan announced.
"The main focus during the upcoming meeting will be on discussing the current situation in Syria, in particular in the province of Idlib and in the North-East of the country, further measures to build confidence between the conflicting parties and promote the political process, including the formation and launch of the Constitutional Committee," the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported in particular.
Bilateral and multilateral preliminary consultations are expected to be held on August 1, and a plenary session is planned on August 2.
