Since the beginning of 2019, the tourist flow to Uzbekistan from Russia has increased by 24.8% compared to the same period of the previous year,First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic Ilhomjon Nematov told RIA Novosti.
"Previously, (during the Soviet period-ed.), there were many tourists from Russia, but at some time, the Russians began to go to Thailand, Miami, and so on. But now again the tourist flow is resumed, the number of tourists is constantly growing... In January-October of this year, 428 thousand Russians visited our country. This is a 24.8% increase compared to the same period last year, " the Agency quoted the diplomat as saying.
According to Nematov, the tourist flow to Uzbekistan is growing not only from Russia, but also from other countries of the world. Last year, about five million tourists visited the Republic.
