Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has begun a working visit to Iran, where he will engage in meetings with Iranian oil and industry ministers, as well as the deputy foreign minister, his press service reported.
"The trip includes official meetings and business negotiations in Tehran and Isfahan. Upon his arrival at Tehran's international airport, Minnikhanov was greeted by Alexei Dedov, the Russian Federation's Ambassador to Iran, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade of Iran Mehdi Zeigami, and other officials," the report reads.
During the first day of his visit, Minnikhanov plans to meet with Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji, co-chairman of the permanent Russian-Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation; Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade Abbas Aliabadi; Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mahdi Safari; and others. On the second day, he is scheduled to meet with Isfahan Province Governor Reza Mortazavi.
The Isfahan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host the Isfahan-Tatarstan interregional business forum, where representatives from both countries will discuss trade, economic, and industrial potential and collaboration opportunities.
Additionally, Minnikhanov's visit will feature visits to several enterprises that have successfully adapted to operate under Western sanctions, as suggested by the Iranian side.
As of the end of the first quarter of 2023, the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Iran has increased by 1.5 times compared to the previous year, reaching $162 million.
