Russian President Vladimir Putin pays great attention to the development of cooperation with Muslim countries as one of the priorities of Russian foreign policy, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision (GSV) "Russia - Islamic World", made the statement at the meeting with the ambassadors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The head of the republic stressed that in recent years Russia and the countries of the Islamic world continue to get closer, confirming the possibility of a successful partnership in a multipolar world.
In 2020, despite the pandemic, the Group held more than a dozen major events, mostly held online.
The central issues of discussion were the global agenda, the development of inter-civilization and inter-religious dialogue, the protection of traditional, spiritual and family values, the deepening of international humanitarian cooperation, the development of youth relations and exchanges, the improvement of information flows and communication.
In addition, the past year was marked by anniversary dates, in particular, the 15th anniversary of the partnership between Russia and the OIC and the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
With the participation of the GSV "Russia - Islamic World" an international conference "Muslim World facing the challenges of the pandemic: unity in the context of social distancing", the scientific forum "Russia - Africa: politics, economics, history and culture", X International Forum "Islam in a Multicultural World" and others were held.
Large-scale events are also expected to take place in 2021, the main of which promises to be a visiting meeting of the Group in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for October.
On July 28-30, Kazan will host the International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit" with the participation of the GSV.
In 2022, Russia at the state level will celebrate the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars, reminded Minnikhanov.
