Today, in the historic setting of the Kazan Kremlin, Rustam Minnikhanov, the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, welcomed Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Emomali Rahmon visited Tatarstan on February 21, to attend the inauguration of the International Multisport Tournament "Games of the Future".
Expressing gratitude for President Rahmon's presence at the tournament's opening ceremony, Minnikhanov highlighted the potential for sports cooperation as a catalyst for broader bilateral engagement.
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized Tatarstan's role in fortifying Russia-Tajikistan relations, citing a current trade turnover of $30 million. While noting the substantial contributions of Tatarstan's industrial enterprises to Tajikistan, he underscored the untapped potential for further growth. "We are hoping to expand the presence of leading Tatarstan companies in Tajikistan's market, while also encouraging increased exports from Tajik companies to Tatarstan," Minnikhanov said.
Of particular interest are collaboration opportunities in petrochemicals, agriculture, healthcare, and informatization, areas where Tatarstan sees significant potential for synergy.
Expressing appreciation for the warm reception, President Rahmon commended the successful organization of the "Games of the Future" and expressed Tajikistan's commitment to enhancing bilateral ties, particularly in investment and industrial sectors.
President Rahmon proposed the convening of a Tajikistan-Tatarstan business forum as part of the broader conference on Russia-Tajikistan cooperation.
In a symbolic gesture, President Rahmon inscribed his thoughts in the Book of Honorable Guests. "It is a pleasure to revisit the glorious city and the symbol of its centuries-old history, a unique historical and architectural monument - the Kazan Kremlin," - wrote the President of Tajikistan. - "I extend my sincere wishes for goodness, well-being, and continued growth to all the residents of the prosperous land of Tatarstan! May peace and harmony prevail in every household."
Rustam Minnikhanov, in recognition of Emomali Rahmon's visit and his contributions to bilateral relations, bestowed upon him the prestigious Order "Duslyk," the state award of the Republic of Tatarstan.
