Minnikhanov is in the lead on elections of the head of Tatarstan

The current President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, wins the election of the head of the Republic, gaining 83.39% of the vote after processing 97.93% of the protocols, according to the CEC of the Russian Federation


From September 11 to 13, the Republic held voting in the elections of the President of Tatarstan, deputies of representative bodies of municipalities, by-elections of the Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and by-elections of the Deputy of the State Council of Tatarstan.

 

Five candidates competed for the post of the President of Tatarstan: Alfred Valiev ("Communists of Russia"), Oleg Korobchenko ("Party of Growth"), Rustam Minnikhanov ("United Russia"), Almir Mikheev ("Fair Russia"), Vladimir Surchilov (LDPR). There are 2.94 million voters in the Republic.


According to the CEC, Mikheev gets 4.87% of the vote, Valiev-4.62%, Korobchenko-3.59%, Surchilov-2.82% of the vote.


In the 2015 Tatarstan presidential election, Minnikhanov won 94.4% of the vote with a turnout of 84.2%.
Various levels of voting were held in 83 Russian regions. This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the authorities changed the single voting day format for the first time and allowed local election commissions to hold elections within three days to protect the health of voters. September 11 and 12 were set as additional days, and September 13 was set as the main voting day.


In total, more than 9,000 different election campaigns and local referendums were held in Russia on September 11-13.
