Uzbekistan's incumbent president Shavkat Mirziyoyev won Sunday's regular presidential election with 80.1% of the vote, Zainiddin Nizamkhojaev, head of the country's central election commission, said at a press conference on Monday.
"According to preliminary data, Shavkat Mirziyoyev won in the last election, gaining 80.1% of the votes <...> Voter turnout in the election was 80.8%," he said.
Five candidates, including the incumbent president nominated by the Liberal democratic party, the largest and most influential party in the republic, ran for the post of head of state.
The deputy head of the political council of the People's democratic party of Uzbekistan, Maksud Vorisova, gained 6.6% of the vote, according to preliminary data of the CEC. Alisher Kodirov, leader of the Democratic party Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival), received 5.5% of the vote. Head of the Ecological party Narzullo Oblomuradov was supported by 4.1% of voters, while leader of the Social-democratic party Adolat (Justice) Bakhrom Abdukhalimov - 3.4%.
