The male population of the Rukban refugee camp in Syria is forced to join armed groups controlled by the United States, a joint statement issued on Friday by the Russian and Syrian interagency coordination headquarters reads.
"In order to survive in Rukban and feed their families, the male population is forced to join the ranks of US-controlled armed groups," the statement said.
Such testimony was given by the militants of the armed band "Magavir-al-Saura"who broke into the territory controlled by the Syrian government. They also reported that " militants controlled by the American side deliberately create conditions under which people who do not want to fight and be members of any groups do not receive food or medical care."
Russia and Syria called on the United States to stop exerting a destabilizing influence on the situation in Syria, strictly observe international law and UN principles, and immediately transfer control over all illegally occupied Syrian territories to the Syrian government. "The further occupation of the territories of Syria by the United States and its allies only increases the suffering of civilians and delays the return to peaceful life in the country," the document says.
The joint statement of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters was signed by Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the Russian interdepartmental coordination headquarters for the return of refugees to Syria, and Hussein Makhlouf, head of the Syrian interdepartmental coordination headquarters for the return of refugees to the country.
COVID-19 outbreaks were not allowed in areas controlled by Damascus
An outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus infection in the territories controlled by Damascus was prevented, according to a joint statement of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria.
"Thanks to the measures taken, we managed to prevent the deterioration of the sanitary and epidemiological situation and prevent the outbreak of the coronavirus disease in the areas controlled by the government of Syria. This partially eased the restrictive measures imposed in connection with the pandemic and helped to activate the process of returning Syrian citizens to their homes," the report says.
It is added that the Syrian government was making significant efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
"We are constantly working to identify citizens with symptoms of the disease and then place them under medical supervision. Syrians arriving from other countries must be placed in specialized centers, " the statement says.
