International Islamic organizations have changed their attitude to Russia and began to note its role in the Middle East along with the positive experience of Russia as a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state. This was stated by Vitaly Naumkin, Scientific director of the Institute of Oriental studies and a member of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World".
The expert mentioned the Muslim World League and the World Council of Muslim Communities as examples.
During the visit to Russia in April this year, the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa said that Russia is an example for multinational countries, and other states should learn how to maintain peace and stability in a multi-confessional society.
"There has been a serious reassessment of our country in general and its role in the Middle East. We have achieved that today we are not only one of the leading forces in the Middle East but the force whose role is respected and estimated," RIA Novosti quotes Naumkin.
