Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation have established close contacts and strong economic ties. Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu said this on Tuesday at the opening of talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
"The leaders of our countries have established an intensive, constructive and trusting bilateral political dialogue, built close trade and economic ties, created a solid legal framework. <...> As Minister of Foreign Affairs I am ready to unite my efforts with you in order to implement all the agreements reached," he said.
Nurtleu, who had been head of the Kazakh president's administration since February 2022, was appointed deputy prime minister and foreign minister on April 3, 2023.
