Pakistan has sent its eighth consignment of humanitarian aid to civilians affected by the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, announced Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on his X page (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
"We have sent 400 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea, including insulated tents, tarpaulins, blankets, medicines, and foodstuffs," - wrote the politician. - "The cargo will be received by the Pakistani ambassador in Egyptian Port Said and handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society for further delivery to the people of Gaza."
Dar emphasized that Islamabad will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine.
The situation in the Middle East escalated sharply after armed supporters of the Palestinian movement Hamas infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. The attack was in response to Israeli authorities' actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel announced a complete blockade of Gaza and began striking the Strip, as well as parts of Lebanon and Syria, before launching a ground operation in the enclave. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
