President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas will be among the guests in Moscow for the parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was confirmed by the Palestinian Ambassador to Moscow, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, in an interview with TASS.
"Of course. He (Mahmoud Abbas) has received an invitation, he has accepted, and he will attend," the ambassador said in response to a question about whether the Palestinian president will visit Moscow on May 9.
Earlier, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, stated that invitations to the Victory Day celebrations had been sent to "many countries." The Kremlin representative expects the participation to be "quite significant."
Additionally, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov announced that military units from 19 friendly countries have been invited to take part in the parade on Red Square.
