Patrushev said that some countries tried to hinder Russia's fight against terrorism in Syria

Certain countries, claiming the status of great powers, not only failed to stand together with Russia against terrorism in Syria, but also tried to hinder this fight, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said when he spoke at the Moscow International Security Conference on Thursday.

He noted that Russia "leaves no one in trouble who asks for help." Proof, he said, is the contribution the country has made to defeating terrorism in Syria. For example, responding to a request from the legitimate authorities of that state, Russia sent a military contingent there at the most difficult, decisive moment.

"Fighting shoulder to shoulder, our and the Syrian military dealt a powerful blow to the terrorists who were already making plans to establish a global caliphate in the Eurasian space. In fact, in those difficult months, the Russians, together with the brotherly Syrian people, fought not only for the future of Syria, but also for the entire world, against which the terrorists acted," said Patrushev. - "It only remains to be regretted that some states claiming to be great powers not only have not seen fit to present a united front against this evil together with us, but have made great efforts to complicate the fight against it".

According to the Russian Security Council Secretary, Russia is now actively assisting in the post-war reconstruction of Syria, the return of refugees and their integration into peaceful life, providing humanitarian aid, helping to rebuild the economy, education and health care. "Our country learned a hard lesson better than others: it is not enough to defeat terrorism on the battlefield, it is necessary to eradicate its preconditions - poverty, social insecurity, lack of education. That is why today, helping to build hospitals and schools on Syrian soil, we continue the fight that our military began," Patrushev added.
