Western countries are actively using terrorist and extremist organizations against Russia, trying to instill fear in its population and undermine the constitutional foundations of the country, Russian Security Council (SB) Secretary Nikolai Patrushev told Izvestia on Wednesday.
"Falsely claiming the importance of fighting terrorism, the West is actively using terrorist and extremist organizations against Russia," the SB secretary said, noting that while doing so, the West is applying methods "used in the 1990s in the North Caucasus."
Patrushev concluded that Western special services are training terrorists and saboteurs to commit crimes on Russian territory, "hoping to instill fear into the population of Russia and undermine the constitutional foundations" of the Russian state.
