Pentagon has no evidence of" collusion " between Russia and the Taliban

The Pentagon has no evidence of "collusion" between Russia and the Taliban, Department spokesperson Jonathan Hoffman said.

"The Ministry of Defense continues to study intelligence information that employees of the Russian GRU engaged in malicious activities against US and coalition forces in Afghanistan. To date, the Ministry of Defense does not have supporting evidence," he said.

At the same time, according to Hoffman, any data about the threat to  US military in the Pentagon is taken seriously.

Earlier, the New York Times, citing anonymous intelligence officials, published an article claiming that the Russian side offered rewards to Taliban-linked militants for attacks on US soldiers in Afghanistan and that Donald Trump was informed about it. No evidence was provided.

The Russian Embassy in the United States demanded an adequate response from Washington to the threats that come to diplomats because of news about Russia and Afghanistan. The Foreign Ministry called the media reports fake, and Trump - ""ordered fudge" ".

Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the NYT publication about Russia's "collusion" with the Taliban, said that this was a lie. When asked by reporters whether Trump somehow discussed this topic with Vladimir Putin over the course of a year, Peskov replied in the negative.
