Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, when asked to comment on the incident between Russian and US military personnel in the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR), said that discussions had already taken place between the chiefs of the General staff of the two countries.
"There was a telephone conversation between the heads of the General staff," Peskov told TASS, answering a question about how the Kremlin views this situation and whether it could pose a threat to Russian - American cooperation to prevent incidents in Syria.
Earlier, the White House issued a statement that the Russian side allegedly violated the deconflicting protocols during the incident in North-Eastern Syria, during which, according to the American side, US military personnel were injured. As stated in the statement of the head of the press service of the national security council at the White House John Elliott, the incident occurred on the morning of August 25 in the village of Derik, where the "Russian equipment crashed into the armored vehicle coalition, injuring the crew".
On Wednesday, the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US armed forces, Mark Milli, had a telephone conversation with the chief of the General staff of the Russian armed forces, Valery Gerasimov, said in a statement, the official representative of the JCS, Didi Halfhill. She noted that the generals, in accordance with previous practice, agreed not to disclose specific details of the conversation.
