President of Russia appointed a special representative on developing relations with Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Russian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Yefimov as the  Special Presidential Representative for developing relations with the Arab Republic. The relevant decree is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.


«To appoint Alexander Yefimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Syrian Arab Republic, as the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for developing relations with the Syrian Arab Republic, » the document says, in particular.


This decree, as noted, comes into force from the date of its signing, on May 25.

 

Previously, there was no position of the Special Representative of the Russian president for developing relations with Syria.

 

Alexander Yefimov was born in 1958, during his diplomatic career since 1980, in 2013-2018 he served as Russian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, in October 2018 he became the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Damascus.
