Russia plans to promote a peaceful resolution of the situation in Afghanistan and stands for an end of the armed conflict. Russian President Vladimir Putin made this statement at the presentation of ambassadors credentials in the Kremlin.
2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Afghanistan. According to Putin, Russia promotes the establishment of a peaceful and independent Afghan state which is free of terrorism and drug crime. Russia also supports the end of the military conflict in the country and the launch of an inclusive dialogue between a wide range of social and political forces. He also stressed that Russia intends to continue to contribute to the relevant process together with partners of the Moscow format and the SCO - Afghanistan contact group.
