A meeting of Russian president Vladimir Putin and the president of France Emmanuel Macron is planned on the sidelines of the G20 in Japan. The Heads of State may discuss Minsk protocol (process) on Ukraine considering the actions of the new leadership of this country, as well as the situation around the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) and Syria, Kremlin Aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters.
"Russia and France contribute to the settlement of the domestic Ukrainian conflict, primarily within the Normandy format - Russia, Germany, Ukraine, and France. The generally recognized basis of the peaceful process is the 2015 Minsk package of measures. The discussion on the prospects of its further implementation will be held given the steps of the new Ukrainian leadership", - Ushakov said.
The leaders are also expected to discuss the situation around Iran and Syria.
"Russia and France have common goals to preserve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and prevent escalation of tension between Iran and the United States and the Persian Gulf in general", - he emphasized.
It should be noted that the talks of two presidents will be held on June 28 in Osaka, Japan.
