At a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which will be held on the margins of the G20 summit in Osaka from June 28-29, US President Donald Trump intends to touch on the issue of the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles.
On the question of what other topics the heads of two states will discuss, US Assistant Secretary of State for Military-Political Affairs Clark Cooper noted: “There is something to talk about in the sphere of international security and disarmament”.
In February of 2019 the United States suspended the fulfillment of its obligations under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. In this regard, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia also suspends its participation in the treaty. On June 18, Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) passed an appropriate law.
