Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held telephone talks, the main topic of which was the situation in Syria. In particular, according to the Kremlin's press service, the two leaders agreed to take urgent measures through the defense ministries to improve the effectiveness of coordination of actions in the Arab Republic.
"The sides agreed to take emergency measures, primarily at the level of the defense ministries of Russia and Turkey, to further strengthen the coordination of activities in Syria", the message reads.
In addition, the presidents expressed mutual concern over growing tension in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
Vladimir Putin noted a sharp increase in terrorist attacks that have claimed numerous civilian lives.
"It was pointed out that the Russian-Turkish agreements on Idlib, which provide for redoubling mutual efforts to neutralize the extremists, must be strictly complied with", the Kremlin said.
